Supporting the Return to Work of Workers’ Compensation Beneficiaries

CAP is committed to helping Department of Defense (DoD) employees return to work safely and productively following a workplace injury or occupational illness. CAP partners with DoD agencies to ensure that Workers’ Compensation beneficiaries have access to the assistive technology and accommodations they need to complete essential job tasks.

By supporting return-to-work efforts with practical tools and individualized assessments, CAP promotes reintegration, independence, and long-term job success for injured employees.

What CAP Provides

CAP offers both equipment and expertise to help Workers’ Compensation beneficiaries to complete essential job tasks. Our comprehensive needs assessment process helps identify the most effective assistive technology solutions for each individual.

Examples of accommodations CAP may provide include:

CAP's approach ensures that each accommodation is tailored to the beneficiary’s needs and workplace responsibilities.

How to Submit a Request

CAP makes it easy to request assistive technology for Workers’ Compensation beneficiaries. Requests may be submitted by:

  • The employee (beneficiary) directly
  • A supervisor, HR representative, or reasonable accommodation coordinator on behalf of the employee

To submit a request:

  1. Go to the CAP Request Form.
  2. In Step 1, indicate that the person to be accommodated is a Workers’ Compensation beneficiary.
  3. Upload supporting documentation. A copy of the Workers’ Compensation acceptance letter is typically sufficient to verify eligibility.
