Description
Pearl with Openbook is a scanner and reader software. The Pearl camera is connected to a computer and it captures images of printed materials. Openbook is software that is installed on the same computer. Once the image is captured, the Openbook uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to convert the image into speech. When used together, Pearl with Openbook can be used as a video magnifier. This allows the individual to enlarge printed documents in real-time on the monitor of the computer the Pearl camera is connected to. Individuals who are blind or have extremely low vision and are required to access information on hard copy documents as a part of their required job functions may benefit from this device.
