March is Brain Injury Awareness Month

The Computer/Electronic Accommodations Program (CAP) is observing Brain Injury Awareness Month. Did you know that every 9 seconds, someone in the United States sustains a brain injury? The lasting effects can be so severe they can impact a person's mood, personality, career and ability to function independently.

CAP provides assistive technology and devices as reasonable accommodations to support individuals with disabilities and wounded, ill and injured Service members throughout the Department of Defense in accessing information and communication technology to continue working.  Assistive technology can help individuals who have sustained a brain injury. For example, CAP has reading and writing aids used to assist individuals who have cognitive limitations that prevent them from completing essential job tasks.
