December 4, 2008: Received the 2008 "President's Quality Award for Management Excellence," the highest honor for executive branch agencies, for its innovative use of web/e-Government to support federal employees and wounded Service members with disabilities
Introduced CAPTEC's "Disability Employment Innovation" series, aimed to provide awareness of the technology provided to accommodate Federal employees with disabilities and wounded Service members
CAPTEC underwent a facelift and moved during the Pentagon renovations

July 23, 2008: Hosted Two Percent by 2019 with another agency at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. The event informed federal managers about disability employment in the Executive Branch and ways to recruit, retain, and advance employees with disabilities and disabled veterans
September 9, 2008: The Department of Defense Instruction, Assistive Technology (AT) for Wounded Service Members (DoDI 6025.22) established policy for AT programs in the Military Health System, affirming CAP's role in providing AT to wounded Service members. It also allows them to keep the equipment after separation, supporting their transition to civilian life.
Supported agencies through its GetFit Initiative to improve their programs
CAP also worked directly with agencies to help improve their disability employment programs via the GetFit Initiative

October 17, 2006: Public Law 109-364 passed, allowing injured Service members on active duty to retain the AT and services upon separation from active duty. It permits them to continue their education or return to the workforce using CAP-provided AT

The forum aimed to strengthen interagency collaboration to enhance recovery, rehabilitation, and employment outcomes for wounded Service members

October 30, 2000: National Defense Authorization Act signed by Congress to grant CAP the authority to "provide assistive technology, devices, and services to any department or agency in the Federal government upon the request of the head of the agency"June 19, 2001: President Bush and Secretary Rumsfeld visited CAPTEC, where Bush delivered his first speech on disability issues. He announces his New Freedom Initiative, which supports Section 508 and Executive Order 13217 and calls for swiftly implementing the Olmstead decision by promoting community-based alternatives
June 21, 2001: Section 508 federal enforcement began
IT and acquisition team training began to support Section 508 requirements.
